Daylight Robbery in Piermont Results in Injuries; Police Are Investigating

A robber beat one victim and struck another with a car on Monday.

A 19-year old Piermont male was assaulted and robbed by an unknown man Monday on Piermont Avenue.

The robbery took place at approximately 5:30 p.m. at the M&T Bank ATM.

The unknown man stole $200 cash and fled in a sedan with New Jersey license plates, striking a bystander in the process.

No one was seriously injured, according to Piermont Police; the bystander was transported to Nyack Hospital.

Nearby residents witnessed the episodes and contacted police through 911 calls. The robber was last seen driving up Ash Street, which runs perpendicular to Piermont Avenue.

Piermont Police are currently investigating the incident.

"We have people of interest, but are not prepared to release any names," said Steve O'Leary, a Sergeant with the department.

"Property crimes are frequent in Piermont, but I can't remember the last time we had a robbery," he added.

Police described the robber as white, slim and standing approximately five feet, seven inches. He was dressed in jeans and a white tanktop.
