Court Appearance for Boat Operator in Fatal Hudson Crash

CBS New York reports that JoJo John was in court today.

John, a Nyack resident, faces an 18-count indictment connected to a July 2013 tragedy on the Hudson River. Prosecutors accuse him of  being drunk while piloting a 19-foot speed boat as it crashed into a construction barge near the Tappan Zee bridge. Lindsey Stewart of Piermont and Mark Lennon of Pearl River were killed and the other four people in the boat, including John, were injured. He has pleaded not guilty.

The judge ruled that the case can proceed based on those indictments and that toxicology tests can be entered as evidence, WCBS 880′s Paul Murnane reported.

He is due back in court May 9.
