Clarkstown Police Officer Christopher McCrudden Passed Away on Monday

McCrudden, 50, suffered complications from a recent illness. Wake will be held on Thursday and Friday.

 

The Clarkstown Police Department announced Police Officer Christopher McCrudden, 50, died on Monday as a result of complications from a recent illness.

Officer McCrudden was an active member of the department and who had started in 1988 and served for 24 years most recently patrolling Valley Cottage, Congers and Upper Nyack. His younger brother Police Officer Terrance McCrudden passed away in October 2012 after battling cancer.

Officer Christopher McCrudden was a resident of Pearl River and is survived by his wife Joanne. He was a bagpiper with the Rockland County Police Emerald Society Pipes & Drums.

“He was an excellent police officer,” said Clarkstown PBA President John Hanchar. “He served this community over two decades. He’ll be missed greatly.” 

Hanchar said Officer Christopher McCrudden donated countless hours at funerals, parades and weddings. Hanchar described him as gregarious and “the elder statesman” of the department’s pipe band members.

“He loved his New York Rangers and he loved his bagpiping,” Hanchar recalled.  

Police Officer Terrance McCrudden died on October 2, 2012 after a battle with cancer. He was 48 years old and had served with the department for 17 years. 

Police Officer Christopher McCrudden’ wake will be held at the Joseph Sorce Funeral Home in West Nyack with visiting hours on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.  A funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Church in New City.

good people ,good times , always a smile on your face, my friend ,you will be missed . many memories , flemmings will never be the same . rest in peace . see you when i get there and we shall continue the good times .
