Central Nyack Man Charged with DWI at Gas Station

53-year-old was sitting in car at gas pumps.

A Central Nyack man found in a running car stopped at a gas station in Nyack has been charged with driving while intoxicated, according to Orangetown Police.

Joe K. St. Clair, 53, of 66 Highview Court, was arrested at 1:14 p.m. Sunday at the Shell station at 45 N. Highland Avenue (Route 9W), Nyack. Police said a chemical breath test for alcohol showed St. Clair had three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

He was arrested after town police received a complaint about a possibly intoxicated man sitting in the driver's seat of a 1995 Ford Contour at the station's pumps, with the engine running. Town police said when they got to the gas station St. Clair appeared to be intoxicated and he failed field sobriety tests.
