Central Nyack Man Charged In Upper Nyack Burglary

Police: Items stolen from Broadway home recovered.

A Central Nyack man is accused of breaking into a home in Upper Nyack on Friday and stealing bonds and electronic items, according to Clarkstown police.

Robert Alexandre, 25, was arrested by Clarkstown police officers who searched the area after a homeowner reported the burglary at about 1:40 p.m.

Police said the owner of a home on Broadway returned home to  find a broken rear window and items including U.S. savings bonds missing. Since the home had only been empty for about an hour, police said they began a search of the neighborhood.

As town police officers were checking with residents of the area to see whether they had seen anything suspicious, police found and arrested Alexandre. Police said items taken in the Broadway burglary were recovered with Alexandre’s arrest.

Alexandre was taken to police headquarters in New City and arraigned by Judge Scott Ugell, who ordered Alexandre held in the Rockland County Correctional Facility in New City on $25,000 bail pending a Wednesday hearing in Town Court on charges of second-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and third-degree criminal mischief.

I guess better late than never. LaCorte is serving his 4th year as Mayor and was Trustee for I thinkRead More 4 years before that. This year is the only time he has brought the idea to the village about participating in this program. He is motivated by the opportunity of getting positive press for his County Executive campaign. The village should have been involved in this program ( as well as the Americorps program) long before this. On a positive note, hopefully the Village will continue this worthwhile partnership for many years to come.
