Car Fire on Tappan Zee Bridge Snarls Traffic

Early morning incident closed lanes for 20 minutes

Early morning commuters encountered a hold up Monday morning when a car fire on the Tappan Zee Bridge closed the south-bound lanes for about 20 minutes.

The incident, which occurred a little before 5 a.m., was the result of an engine overheating, not a collision, state police said. No one was injured.

The lanes have since been reopened, and the accident cleared.
