Car Fire Breaks Out In Garage Of Congers Home

Congers, New City firefighters prevent blaze from extending into home.

A car parked inside the garage of a home on Holbrook Avenue in Congers was damaged by a fire just before 2 p.m. today, according to Congers volunteer firefighters.

Congers Fire Department First Assistant Chief Jason DiSalvo said the fire was at a high ranch style house, where where no one was home at the time of the fire.

The first volunteer firefighters to reach the house saw heavy smoke coming from the garage. DiSalvo said once firefighters entered the house they found the car,  in the garage was on fire.

The fire was quickly extinguished and did not reach into the rest of the house.

Congers firefighters were assisted by volunteers from the New City Fire Department, who brought in a pumper truck. Clarkstown police, members of Congers-Valley Cottage Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Rockland Paramedics were also at the scene of the fire.

No one was injured.
