Car Chase Ends in Nyack; Two Squad Cars Damaged, Suspect Tased

Police are waiting to learn if alcohol played a factor

A car chase that began in Westchester and took authorities over the Tappan Zee Bridge earlier this morning ended in Nyack at Thruway Exit 11.

State Police began pursuing an individual after they ran a toll going west on the New York State Thruway at approximately 10:30 a.m.. The individual failed to stop, leading police on a 12 mile chase that ultimately damaged two squad cars. No officers were injured in the collisions.

After police stopped the driver at Exit 11, it was necessary to use a taser, authorities said. The driver has been taken into custody; his/her identity has not been released, and police are waiting to hear if alcohol was a factor.
