Car Accident Shuts Route 9W in Valley Cottage

Road closed for utility repairs.

A car accident on Route 9W in Valley Cottage shut the road to traffic early this morning and detours continue as work continues to repair damaged utility equipment, according to Clarkstown police.

Police said a car struck a utility pole at about 3:30 a.m. on a hilltop section of Valley Cottage between Christian Herald Road in Upper Nyack and Lake Road in Valley Cottage. The damage required the road to be closed in both directions for the accident clean up and utility repairs.

Police are uncertain when the road will re-open, but expect it to open sometime this morning.

If you need to get through the area, use Route 303 as an alternate route.

I guess better late than never. LaCorte is serving his 4th year as Mayor and was Trustee for I thinkRead More 4 years before that. This year is the only time he has brought the idea to the village about participating in this program. He is motivated by the opportunity of getting positive press for his County Executive campaign. The village should have been involved in this program ( as well as the Americorps program) long before this. On a positive note, hopefully the Village will continue this worthwhile partnership for many years to come.
