Body Found Below Rockefeller Lookout in NJ

Officers began investigating after a car was discovered in the Rockefeller Lookout parking lot Wednesday night, police said.

Rescue crews found a woman's body at the base of the Rockefeller Lookout in Englewood Cliffs Wednesday night, police said.

Officers began a search after an abandoned car was discovered at the lookout around 7 p.m. Wednesday, off of the northbound lanes of the Palisades Interstate Parkway, according to police. The car had been parked in the lot for an "extended period of time," but police did not immediately say for how long.

"During the investigation, it was determined that the owner had not been in contact with relatives in over a day and may be depressed," Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Lt. Michael J. Coppola said in a statement.

The Englewood Cliffs and East Bergen Rappel Team responded around 9 p.m. and discovered the body after authorities used a cell phone trace to pinpoint the woman's location, police said.

The woman has been identified as Joan Orlic, a 65-year-old female resident of Hackensack, NJ.

The death remained under investigation Thursday morning, but police said it did not appear to be suspicious.

I guess better late than never. LaCorte is serving his 4th year as Mayor and was Trustee for I thinkRead More 4 years before that. This year is the only time he has brought the idea to the village about participating in this program. He is motivated by the opportunity of getting positive press for his County Executive campaign. The village should have been involved in this program ( as well as the Americorps program) long before this. On a positive note, hopefully the Village will continue this worthwhile partnership for many years to come.
