Long Island 23-Year-Old Does from Gunshot Wound to Head in Tarrytown [Monday] 

Tarrytown Police on Tuesday afternoon released the name of the woman slain on Labor Day afternoon as Megan Bookstaver of Hicksville, New York.

Bookstaver, 23, was apparently in the fourth floor bedroom of the luxury riverfront townhouse in the Hudson Harbor complex with two other unnamed people. 

They were "examining firearms when one was discharged," Lt. William Herguth said.

Pedestrian Killed in Ossining was Running for Town Justice [Tuesday]

County police have identified the Briarcliff man struck and killed in Ossining Tuesday night, who might have been there posting signs for his campaign for Town of Ossining Justice.

John Mangialardi, 55, of Locust Road, Briarcliff Manor, was hit at the busy intersection of Route 134 and Route 9A around 10:15 p.m.

Clarkstown Police Hunt for Man Accused of Attacking 2 with Hunting Knife [Thursday]

Clarkstown Police are are working to track down a dangerous criminal in Rockland who answers to the nickname "The Beast," authorities told Patch Thursday afternoon.

Cops are on the hunt for Joel Pointdujour, a 24-year-old who is considered to be "armed and dangerous," said detective Stephen Cole-Hatchard. Pointdujour was last residing in the West Haverstraw and Garnerville, police said, and is known to frequent Spring Valley.
