Veterans: United Way Day of Caring STAC Varsity Basketball Team volunteers Help Homes For Heroes Veterans
United Way chose Homes For Heroes for their Day of Caring and enlisted the brute strength of St. Thomas Aquinas College's Varsity Basketball Team to get the job done. The STAC students spent a day volunteering getting our old Camp Shanks Army buildings in shape for new uses for our Veterans. St. Thomas Aquinas College's Motto is “Making Success a Habit” and STAC’s Varsity Basketball Team certainly lived up to that, for what could be more successful than giving back to our Veterans? Kudos to Chaz Watler, Marcus Henderson, Alushula Odongo, Bradley Saxton, Kiernan Hayes, Matthew Lee, Justin Reyes, Jules De Courtenay, and Jonathan McNair, the team Captain.
Homes for Heroes is a nonprofit organization focused on providing affordable housing for homeless and disabled veterans. The apartments reside on the former Camp Shanks, in Tappan, N.Y., from which over 1.3 million GI’s left to fight in Europe during WWII. To help support the men and women who bravely and honorably served our nation, monetary donations can be donated to Homes For Heroes, Inc., One Blue Hill Plaza, P.O. Box 1648, Pearl River, NY 10965, or online at www.RocklandHomesForHeroes.Com. Please call Sarah Wade at 845-735-0515, if you have any further questions.
