Services Set for Teen Found Hanged in Rockland County Jail

Services have been scheduled for Francis Donnelly, 19, of Orangetown, who was found hanged in the Rockland County jail Sunday. 

Visitation is set for Friday, Jan. 10 from 2 p.m. to 4 pm.. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Moritz Funderal Home in Tappan. The Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11 at Our Lady of Sacred Heart Church in Tappan. 

The family is asking that instead of sending flowers, donations be made to the Dr. Theodore A. Atlas Foundation. Find out more about the foundation here

Donnelly's obituary is on the Moritz Funeral Home website here. The Tappan Zee High School graduate is survived by his parents, Mark and France Donnelly, and brothers Paul and Luke Donnelly. He was active in boxing with the Piermont PAL program. The family wrote in his obituary, “His greatest accomplishment never to be forgotten was his love demonstrated to his family and his friends. His loyalty and ability to make others laugh will forever exist in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.”

The Rockland County Sheriff's office is still investigating Donnelly's death, which has been called a suicide. He had been arrested Sept. 23 and was accused of an armed robbery of a bicyclist on the Joseph Clarke Rails to Trails Park in Tappan Sept. 17.
