Michael Petriello of Congers Dies at Age 93

Michael Petriello, a resident of Congers, died on April 29, 2013. He was 93 years old. 

Michael was born on Jan. 1, 1920, to Bartolomeo and Philomena Petriello in Nyack, where he was raised. He served in the Army during WWII operations in Japan with the 98th Infantry Division. 

Michael was employed as a plumber / steamfitter and retired from Lederle Laboratories in Pearl River.  He was a member of St. Ann’s RC Church in Nyack, the Clarkstown Senior Citizens Club, a Life Member of Chelsea Hook and Ladder Co. No. 2 of the Nyack Fire Department and American Legion Post # 310 of Nyack.

Michael is survived by his wife Margie, with whom he would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Aug. 21, 2013. He is also survived by his daughters Alma Sue of Lakewood, CO, and Marjorie Ann and Victor Fiola of Upper Nyack; sons Michael B. and Yu Ok of Middletown and John J. and Lisa of Tuxedo; four grandchildren, Christine, Carolyn, Cassandra and Allyssa and two great-grandchildren. Michael and Katelyn; and, a sister Jeani Corveddeu of Ocala, FL.  He was predeceased by two brothers, Patsy and Joseph and four sisters, Mary, Florence, Rosie and Tess.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Hannemann Funeral Home, 88 S. Broadway, Nyack. American Legion Post No. 310 and Chelsea H&L Co. No. 2 will hold a service Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Ann’s RC Church in Nyack.  Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Nyack.
