John Perella: A Founding Member of Italian American Scholarship Association

John “Chick” Perrella entered eternal rest on Friday May 9, 2014 at the age of 84.

John was born in the Bronx N.Y. on June 4,1929 and moved to Rockland County where he settled with his family for over 50 years. He married the love of his life, Patte, on April 6, 1958. 

Together they celebrated life with each other, traveled all over the world and enjoyed spending time with family. He was a loving father and grandfather. He was actively involved in the community as founder of the Italian American Scholarship Association, where he was devoted to giving back to college bound students. He will best be remembered by family and friends for his wonderful stories and passion for people.

John was sadly predeceased by his brother Louis Perrella Jr.; his son, John of Greenwood Lake N.Y.; and his grandson, Scott McMurray of White Plains N.Y.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patte of Valley Cottage New York and two daughters, Christina McMurray and her husband Gene of White Plains and granddaughter Kim; Maria Sorrentino and her husband Robert of Poughquag N.Y. and granddaughter Gabriela and grandson Rob. 

John is also survived by his sister, Lucille Rotondi and her husband Louie of Somerset N.J. along with his nephew Paul Rotondi and niece Susan Stickle both of N.J. 

Calling hours were Monday, May 12 from 5 pm to 8 pm at Hannemann Funeral Home, Nyack N.Y. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 13th at St. Ann’s R.C. Church at 10:00 am in Nyack N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Italian American Scholarship Association--P.O. Box 9394 Bardonia N.Y. 10954
