The Post Mortem! New Year's Day

No resolutions yet, here is a short list to help you survive day one of the New Year!

The parties are over, the songs have been sung, and good cheer wished to all.

The New Year has been rung in (and then some!), but we are not quite ready to face any resolutions or steadfast rules. We have to face our common demon... the hangover!

Here are a few tips to help you through -- what always seems -- the longest day of the year.

  • DO NOTHING! Accept your fate and lie in bed all day. Let your poor organs come back to reality at their own pace. Time is an amazing cure all.
  • Upon rising, a little mild exercising, or if that is seems impossible, stand by an open window and breathe deeply several times. An oxygen tent is a sure cure for the Hangover but so few homes are equipped these days!
  • When you feel you need to take something... Alka Seltzer, soda water and Bromo are your friends.
  • Now my uncle Paul, (RIP), who did his fair share of reveling (well ,he was a Jazz musician with Duke Ellington for goodness sakes!) had his own sure fire method: one-part beer and one-part tomato juice. Worked like a charm.

May I thank each of you for subscribing to my musings -- and I wish you a New Year filled with love, health, charity, and hope.

Cheers!

I guess better late than never. LaCorte is serving his 4th year as Mayor and was Trustee for I thinkRead More 4 years before that. This year is the only time he has brought the idea to the village about participating in this program. He is motivated by the opportunity of getting positive press for his County Executive campaign. The village should have been involved in this program ( as well as the Americorps program) long before this. On a positive note, hopefully the Village will continue this worthwhile partnership for many years to come.
