Psychic Imprints

Find out if you have been exposed to a psychic imprint

What draws us to certain places? Cheerful memories of past experiences, a scenic location—or maybe it's a past-life thing.

Do you notice the difference in energy at various locations? The energy flow in older homes and buildings in contrast to newer structures? Locally, towns such as Nyack, Haverstraw and Stony Point (older communities) have a separate vibration than towns like Pearl River, Spring Valley and New City (newer communities).

All of these are part of a "psychic imprint." A psychic imprint is a reverberation of sensation, an emotional recollection of an occurrence fueled by a powerful energy left by those who experienced it. It is almost an accidental brush with another's manifestation of spiritual energy.

The power that remains can be experienced decades after the event—it is a deposit of energy that lingers, and anyone that is intuitive, open or even just curious can tap into this energy.

The realm in which we live absorbs energy soaking it up like a huge blotter, creating psychic photographs and filing them away forever in its aperture. These imprints can be created by intense happiness or sadness. The energy we draw from an imprint can fill us with inspiration and creativity.

Our local river towns are thick with psychic imprints. Our foundling fathers (and mothers) built these villages from the ground up, leading the way for commerce, expansion and growth. Not so long ago, my brother Bill was taking his daily hike through the lower tip of Orangetown. He often treks camera in hand, looking for unusual and interesting things to photograph. As he headed home he stopped for a moment and happened to look down at the path beneath him. (See photo attached to this blog.) The interesting part was that the bricks were all old DeNoyelles bricks. Our family many generations ago owned the brick yards. Was it a psychic imprint that made him look down, an old family energy calling out to him? I often wonder how many of our family bricks are still part of the older structures, and if that is why I'm drawn to the river towns.

Lucky for my family, much of the early family happenings are recorded—so it has always been easy for us to learn about those that came before us. I have always craved the herstory more than the history—but little then was written about the lady of the house back then, so I wonder if I channel the feminine aspect of the imprint. Whatever the attachment, I'm left with a warm sensation of what life was like way back when, before paved roads and shopping malls, and a sense of pride that this county was built on a strong foundation of hard work.

Some people equate a psychic imprint with a haunting, and yes there are some similarities... but its like comparing a cup of coffee to a cup of tea! An imprint is not and should not be considered a haunting. A haunting involves a spirit, not simply an energy. A haunting, like an imprint, occurs over a long period of time and involves an apparition (appearance of a deceased person or animal). The object often appears transparent or incomplete. Cold spots are felt as the spirit tries to draw energy from the air around them. Often scents and sounds are present.

There is a huge rebirth in our fascination with the unexplained fueled, I'm sure, by Hollywood and books. By nature of my profession, I'm often called out on ghost  hunts. They can be quite interesting—and dangerous. Visiting an area of psychic imprints is gratifying and mostly calm and enlightening. Venturing off to a haunted house without proper knowledge isn't a wise thing—know what you are getting into, and how to protect yourself. You wouldn't want to bring home an angry spirit.

So, are there haunted houses in our area? Yes—and from time to time I'll blog about my adventures visiting them. (But I don't feel comfortable identifying them and giving out information that may cause one's privacy to be invaded). If you are interested in learning more about them, try reading Weird New York or Weird New Jersey.

One more thought: no matter where you go, always leave a positive psychic imprint, because you never know—generations from now—who will be picking up your energy. And thank you to my brother Bill for sharing his adventures, words, and photographs.

Until next time, remember: magic happens.
