Shoppers Asked to Help Veterans

Homes For Heroes is teaming up with the Palisades Center mall during August for a day of shopping that will also benefit our veterans.

As shoppers are looking for back-to-school bargains on Aug. 14, Homes For Heroes volunteers will be on hand in the parking lot with bins ready to be filled up by shoppers with donated household items that can be used at the new Homes For Heroes housing on Western Highway in Orangetown.

Shoppers are asked to buy household goods to help make veterans feel at home, like bedding, towels, rugs and vacuum cleaners. Volunteers will have a list of items that are need. After making the purchase, items can be placed in the donation bins.

Gift cards can also be used as donations.

Homes for Heroes, a 501[c]3 not-for-profit, is in the final stages of building rental
apartments that are being built specifically and only for our honorably discharged,  disabled and displaced, men and women veterans, who will be referred by the Veterans Administration. Veterans will be coming to Homes for Heroes homeless and with little or no belongings, so they need common items that make a house a home.

Info: Call 845-735-0515. Checks can be mailed to Homes For Heroes, Inc., 1 Blue Hill Plaza,  P.O. Box 1648,  Pearl River, NY 10965, or credit card donations can be made via www.Rockland HomesForHeroes.org.
