Paralympic Hopeful Trains on West Nyack Horse

New Windsor native and MS sufferer rides local horse

Donna Ponessa—a top-ranked US Para-Dressage rider—has a 25-percent chance of riding at the Paralympics late this summer in London.

And West Nyack plays a role.

Ponessa, of New Windsor, NY, rides Otto, the horse of West Nyack mother and daughter Sue and Kristi Niblo. The Niblos are Ponessa's longtime friends and sponsors.

Ponessa has been combating MS since the early 80s, breathes with the help of a ventilator and is paralyzed from the chest down.

Ponessa will submit her best score to the US Para-Dressage Team trials this summer.
