Relax in 2014
Happy New Year! I know we may be three weeks into 2014 but for me this is start of the year. I’ve had the flu for most of the month along with my family. A friend asked me how do you take care of a baby when you are sick and I said you don’t – which is why it is taking us so long to get back to the routine.
I’m really happy to be feeling better which is why I can be clear and more realistic about my goals for 2014. Laissez faire, lazy, laid back whatever you call it I need to pull back expectations for some things. When you are a mommy to a toddler learning how to step over the Legos and walk past the spilled crayons and books is a necessary skill. Recognizing that if she gets only two spoonfuls of food in her mouth during meal time is a success. Learning to start the day with only three attainable goals like laundry, a call to the outside world and quality Mommy and me time is sometimes the best you can do – until the sitter comes over.
