History and Arson: Nyack Lost a Landmark

One of the village's most infamous watering holes is long gone because of arson

The blaze was reported shortly after five in the morning. Chic & Charlie's Bar was on FIRE!

Nyack volunteers quickly rolled out of bed and raced to the fire will all eight of the fire trucks.  Getting quickly to work, the flames were doused a half hour later. Chief Howie Williams would later determine the fire was an arson job and started with an explosion.

Chic & Charlies was a long-standing Nyack watering hole at 48 South Franklin Street. I believe the bar was originally owned by a member of the Glass family.
