Members of six sports teams from Tappan Zee High School participated in a fundraiser for United Hospice of Rockland Wednesday at Little Scoops in Orangeburg.
The event was hosted by members of Youth for Hospice, who served ice cream, painted faces and provided tattoos. Little Scoops donated 20 percent of proceeds from Wednesday from 4 p.m. to close and $25 per party scheduled to United Hospice of Rockland.
Tappan Zee was recently chosen as the 2013 National Interscholastic Sports Program Excellence Award for public schools by Coach and Athletic Director Magazine. One of the criteria for the honor is community service.
