Scout Completes Warming Hearts for Hospice Project

Tappan Zee High School senior Ceara Genovesi chose to combine her work with Youth for Hospice with her Girl Scout Gold Award project.

Genovesi, who is in Troop 40274, earned the award by working with volunteers to to make 11 afghans to be used at the Joe Raso Hospice Residence in New City. Three of the afghans were made in red, white and blue for veterans. 

Genovesi received eight inch squares in green to fit with the the residence's tree theme from 25 men and women from New York, New Jersey and Florida. She used the squares as she designed and assembled the afghans. 


Youth for Hospice is a volunteer made up of high school students who raise money and help in other programs for the United Hospice of Rockland.
