Rockland Man Halfway to Destination on Charity "Ride to Give"

Ten time Iron Man athlete Dave Nazaroff says cycling 900 miles in six days is incredibly hard; but not nearly as hard as what the children he rides for face every day.

Nazaroff, of Nyack, NY, set off on his bicycle this past Sunday morning to bike and raise funds for a special 11-year-old girl, Callie Truelove, who suffers from Williams Syndrome, a heart defect.

Along with a team of volunteers driving and riding with him for moral and physical support, Nazaroff's journey takes him from Nyack, NY to Gainesville, GA to present Callie and her family with a check for her ongoing medical expenses.

The charity that organized this event is called Ride to Give and was co-founded by Nazaroff and his wife. Each day his route is tracked using Garmin and supporters can follow the blue dot to see where he is and how far he has gone. Followers can also check in on Facebook to see photos and video of his progress.

On day 3 he rode just under 12 miles in a little less than 45 minutes, making it about halfway to his final destination, Stonewall Jackson Hotel and Conference Center in Staunton, VA.

To date, Ride to Give has raised more than $64,000 for A Look Into Callie's Heart.

The Ride to Give is a 501(c)3 non-profit that raises funds and awareness for children with long-term illnesses and special needs. To make a tax deductible donation to A Look Into Callie's Heartclick here.
