United Hospice of Rockland (UHR) hosting Annual Veterans Recognition Event

UHR has a strong commitment to Veterans and has been holding Veterans Recognition events for almost 10 years. They were instituted after our staff was trained by the V.A. on how end of life care needs to be practiced given the dangerous duty many veterans have done. Our most important work is helping veterans let go of their stoicism, so they can accept our help with pain and symptom management. We also help families better understand the impact their loved one’s military past has had.

This year, our annual Veterans Recognition Event will take place on Thursday, December 5, 2013 from 1:30 – 4:30 PM at the Salvation Army Conference Center, 440 West Nyack Road, West Nyack, NY. The event is sponsored by Dignity Memorial, a long time sponsor of our Veterans events, and by Elder Law Attorneys Lee A. Hoffman Jr., CELA and Sara L. Keating.

In recognition of the sacrifice and service that veterans have made and to commemorate Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, we are inviting veterans and a family member to a special screening of “Honor Flight,” a remarkable, heartwarming movie which premiered on December 7, 2012. “Honor Flight” documents how a mid-west community pays homage to their World War II veterans by arranging, through the Honor Flight program, to fly them free of charge to the newly opened World War II memorial in Washington, DC.

If you know a Veteran who would be interested in attending, please contact Mimi Hoffman, UHR Community Liaison at 845.634.4974 or email mhoffman@hospiceofrockland.org.
