One Life To Live: Rockland Residents Donate The "Gift Of Life"

Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester), in partnership with the New York Blood Center will kick off his Community Blood Drive to solicit life-saving blood
donations. The event will draw residents all throughout Rockland County
that are willing to provide a safe, abundant, and readily available
supply of blood products for individuals in need of heart transplants,
trauma victims, newborn babies, surgery patients, and others in need.

Each
year, 4.5 million Americans receive blood transfusions, with 40,000
pints of blood transfused each day in the United States.  In the New
York-New Jersey metropolitan area alone, close to 2,000 donations are
needed each day for patients who require a lifesaving blood and/or
platelet transfusion.
