Masks and More by Carl Opalek

For the month of July, the Piermont Library will exhibit "Masks and More," an exciting show featuring the dynamic assemblages of local artist Carl Opalek.  The opening reception will take place Sunday, July 13th, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM.

Full of humor and whimsy, the body of work created for this show will be enjoyed by viewers of all ages. With titles like "Longface," "Watermelon Man," and "Scarface," Opalek's masks are sure to please. The masks are inspired by and created from driftwood and other discarded and found objects collected by Opalek off the Piermont Pier. His show might just inspire others to start combing the beaches of Piermont!

A graduate of the Cooper Union School of Art in New York, Opalek had a career in commercial art as a designer and illustrator. Now retired, Opalek devotes more of his creative time to the fine arts. Opalek has shown his assemblages, as well as his paintings, illustrations, and digital art throughout Rockland County from RoCA to the Outside In. Don't miss this great exhibit!
