Nyack Boat Club Conducts Junior Sailing Program
Young sailors are taught to sail safely and well
Now in it's 44th year, Nyack Boat Club will conduct two sessions of its widely-acclaimed Junior Sailing program during the 2013 sailing season.
The program teaches young sailors, aged eight (8) to fifteen (15) how to sail safely, independently and competitively. Each session is four weeks long. The first session begins on June 24 and ends on July 19. The second session begins on July 22 and ends on August 15.
The sessions run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during the four-week course. On the last day of each session, the program hosts an awards dinner where every child comes out a winner!
The goal of the program is to create a passion for sailing among 8 to 15 year olds. Children will learn to sail on Optimist prams, an internationally recognized child’s training and racing boat, and Club 420s, also an internationally recognized two person racing boat, suitable for training older skippers and crews. The program also accepts Laser sailors who bring their own boat and provides instruction along side the 420s.
The program is open to club members and non-members. Children without their own boats will be able to charter a club boat (Optimist or 420) for which the child learns to be responsible for care and maintenance. The program will process only fully completed applications. To learn more and begin the application process, please visit:
