Nyack, NY, November 4-30, 2012-- Maria Luisa Gifts at 77 South Broadway in Nyack is featuring original Hudson Valley pastel paintings by Rachel Avenia. The exhibit is in the lower level of ML Gifts and runs from November 4th through the 30th. An artist's reception is scheduled for Thursday, November 8th from 6pm-8pm and the public is invited.
Rachel Avenia is a fine artist from Oradell, NJ, previously residing in Pomona, NY. A former Nyack Boat Club member and sailor, Avenia spent countless hours on the river, giving her a unique perspective and an intimate view of the river. In addition to sailing, Avenia enjoys hiking the Hudson River Valley. These views and more are featured in her latest paintings.
Working exclusively in pastels, Avenia creates seascape and landscape paintings that focus on capturing the light and atmosphere of the sky. Avenia has been juried into several regional shows including the 2012 Salamagundi non-member's show and the Piermont Flywheel Gallery's recent exhibit "Atttitude".
