Rockland Jewish Family Service, a not-for-profit, non-sectarian community benefit agency, announces its second-annual parent conference, “Knowledge is Power: Enriching Family Life” which will take place on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the Rockland Jewish Community Campus. The conference, which celebrates parenting, is open to people of all faiths and is designed for parents/guardians and grandparents.

According to Maria Dowling, CEO of Rockland Jewish Family Service, “Our parent conference will include sixteen workshops on important topics like advocating for your child, nutrition, exercise, and helping your family cope with divorce and other life events. There will be also sessions for parents of children who have learning disabilities, ADD and autism. Each workshop leader is a professional at the top of his or her field. Never before has one event brought this depth and breadth of parenting knowledge to the community.”

The conference begins at 8:30 AM with a continental breakfast and Resource Fair, where attendees will learn about local family-friendly organizations and businesses. Conference participants will also hear a keynote address from Stan Friedmann entitled “Bringing Families Together by Having Fun!” Friedman is the founder and director of two intergenerational and interactive character education/literacy programs, The Home Run Project and Ingelore the Legacy.

Attendees will participate in three workshops of their choice before the conference concludes at 1:10 PM. A full list of workshops can be found online at www.rjfs.org/parent-conference. The cost to register for the conference prior to April 7 is $20. Registration on conference day is $25. The parent conference will be held at the Jewish Community Campus, 450 West Nyack Road, West Nyack, NY 10994. Family-focused businesses and organizations are invited to sponsor and/or exhibit.
