Christmas Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols - A Clarkstown Reformed Church Tradition.

Again this year on Christmas Eve, the Clarkstown Reformed Church will be holding its traditional candlelight service of lessons and carols. This simple service uses 9 lessons, drawn from from both the Old and New Testaments, to tell the story of God’s People’s long wait for the coming of the Messiah, and of the birth of Jesus the Christ in Bethlehem. Traditional Advent and Christmas carols will be sung, by either the choir, the congregation or by soloists, in response to the lessons. We will also, of course, pray to the Lord who has come and is coming again, asking God’s blessings on ourselves, our loved ones, our church and our nation this Christmas and through the coming year.

There will be time for refreshments and to share Christmas cheer after the service in the Church’s discipleship room. All are welcome.

I guess better late than never. LaCorte is serving his 4th year as Mayor and was Trustee for I thinkRead More 4 years before that. This year is the only time he has brought the idea to the village about participating in this program. He is motivated by the opportunity of getting positive press for his County Executive campaign. The village should have been involved in this program ( as well as the Americorps program) long before this. On a positive note, hopefully the Village will continue this worthwhile partnership for many years to come.
