Discover Your Narrative Voice During National Novel Writing Month - Workshop I

In celebration of November as National Novel Writing Month, The Tappan Library will host three writing workshops as part of the “Discover Your Narrative Voice” series, which is co-sponsored by Poets&Writers, Inc. with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the New York State Legislature.  The workshop series is led by Peter Bricklebank. Bricklebank is a Pushcart Prize Nominee who has taught narrative technique at NYU, National University, and The Hudson Valley Writers Center.

This series is free and open to the public but registration is required. All sessions take place at the Tappan Library located at 93 Main Street in Tappan, NY.

•    “Only Narrative” – 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5 - This workshop serves as the introduction to the concept of narrative - finding ways to tell our tale in such a way that absorbs attention. The instructor will demonstrate how stories may shift from one genre to another subtly yet it is the narrative that pulls the words together into a coherent end-product. Peter will give examples of creative narrative, review elements of a narrative, and allow time at the end for writing prompts. Register at http://bit.ly/14MBW3L
