Tonight: Nyack Schools' Budget Adoption

School trustees to adopt 2012-13 budget Tuesday evening

Nyack Schools' tentative budget–which and —is set for adoption Tuesday night.

A workshop will precede the adoption, and give residents and taxpayers a final chance to sound off on the $72 million fiscal plan.

"People can say, 'I'd like to see this, or change that," explained Gail Fleur, the district's director of communications.

The proposed tax levy increase is about 2.6 percent, which, when applied to the nuts and bolts of Nyack's finances, is considered under the two-percent cap. 

Fleur said though the board has the ability to reject the budget, it would be a rare and unprecedented action.

The meeting is slated for 7:30 p.m. at the Hilltop Administrative Building.
