Thursday's Tappan Zee Bridge Forum Postponed

Thunderstorm forecast disrupts discussion; no rain date set

Rockland residents and business owners hoping to ask questions about the will have to wait.

A forum featuring members of the New York State Thruway Authority and governor Andrew Cuomo's staff slated for tonight has been postponed due to the thunderstorm forecast.

The meeting was planned for 6 p.m. at Rockland Community College in Suffern.

"We are postponing tonight's Rockland Community Meeting on the Tappan Zee Bridge because we want local residents to be safe and not go out or travel unnecessarily during the severe storm that is expected to hit the area," said Brian Conybeare, a spokesman for Cuomo. "The meeting will be re-scheduled for next week and we will announce the new date, time and location as soon as possible."

"I want to echo governor Cuomo's message that New Yorkers monitor their local news stations for updates on the weather and stay safe," Conybeare added.

Thursday night's storms are expected to bring heavy rains and winds into the early morning.

A meeting was held with the bridge panel at Dominican College Thursday morning; officials touched on . Thursday evening's meeting was expected to have a larger turnout.
