Local Scholarship Winner Named in Nyack

Nyack senior grabs $1,250 for college

Thanks to the generosity of neighbors and local businesses, senior will be heading to college with helpful scholarship in tow.

Cea received the scholarship—which is tethered to 's Women of Leadership and Vision brunch later this month—over the weekend. She competed again other high-achieving female seniors to take home the $1,250 award for books, courses and other collegiate expenses.

The winner of the $250 junior scholarship was Marie Joseph.

"We were amazed the incredible support from the community," Rosner said. "In the end we had five contributors to the scholarship: [myself], , , Rebecca and Peter Lang and Susan Wilmink and Thomas Schneck."

Cea and the other finalists gave presentations at , and a panel of judges—along with an audience—cast votes for a winner.

Both Cea and Joseph will be honored along with the four other finalists for the senior scholarship at the Nyack Center's Women of Leadership and Vision event on March 24 at 10 a.m. Tickets—$55 each—can be purchased by calling (845) 358-2600. 

Rosner said the scholarship will likely be awarded in coming years, too.

"We hope to continue this scholarship in the future," she explained. "We had a great response with applicants from all over the county."
