A Nyack man is charged with assault and related charges in connection with a domestic violence incident in Nyack, where a woman was punched and choked in front of her two children, according to Orangetown Police.
Donald A. Williams, 28, was arrested after a 3:38 p.m. incident. Police said Williams is accused of punching a woman with whom he had a relationship with, hitting her five times in the chest and dragging her across the floor and pinning her against a wall.
Police said Williams is accused of applying pressure to the woman's neck for about 10 seconds, impeding her normal breathing. The incident, police said, took place in front of the victim's two children, only described by police as minors under age 17.
The victim refused medical attention.
Town police officers arrested Williams on charges of third-degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal obstruction of breathing. He was arraigned in Nyack Village Court and released on $300 bail pending a hearing today.
A court order was issued against Williams, requiring that he stay away from the victim in this incident.
