Piermont Farmers' Market Gears Up

Annual market to kick off this coming Sunday

Beginning this weekend, Piermonters can stay local if they want to grab fresh food outdoors.

The village's annual farmers' market begins Sunday, May 27, and runs through December 30. The hours are 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The bazaar—hosted by Community Markets—will include 15 vendors this time around, with favorites like and returning.

Among the ranks will be two newcomers: John D. Madura Farms, which offers fresh produce, and Go-Go Pops, which features homemade ice pops created using Hudson Valley-grown fuits and vegetables. (Some of the 70 flavors: pumpkin pie and cucumber chili.)

Community Markets got its start just across the Hudson.

"Since 1991, when we started our first farmers market in Ossining, the goal has always been to connect people directly with farmers," said Miriam Haas, the group's founder. "Even with our artisanal producers, we make sure that they source their ingredients from area farms. We’re doing our job when we’re able to help keep farms and local businesses healthy."

The Piermont farmers' market is held in the M&T Bank Parking lot, 527 Piermont Avenue.
