A one-car accident in which an SUV overturned has shut Route 9W in both directions in Nyack this afternoon.
The accident, which took place around 3:30 p.m., involves a silver, Ford SUV that landed on the driver's side as it overturned. The driver was able to escape the vehicle.
Volunteers of the Nyack Fire Department worked to stabilize the overturned car in preparation for its removal. Members of the Nyack Community Ambulance corps assisted, with Orangetown police.
