Nyack's River Rowing to Give Free Lessons

Residents can stop by Congers Lake, learn to row

If you're hoping to pick up rowing, there's a better way than renting a beat-up schooner and hitting the Hudson.

Nyack's River Rowing Association will be holding free lessons this coming weekend at Congers Lake, teaching neophytes and newcomers how to work the oars.

Ages 12 and up are invited; the group's professional coaching staff will be on hand with pointers and instructions. Participants will learn how to operate two- and four-person shells.

Paddling lessons for ages 10 and up will be available, too.

Earlier in the day–from 9 a.m. to noon—the lake will house competitive races that are free to view.
