On Twitter and Facebook, several Nyackers have posted angry missives regarding the situation. "I got one [ticket] in the hours before [Irene]," one resident wrote Patch. "It had already started pouring and I was with my three-year-old! Totally typical."

"Nyack [parking officers] were out ticketing cars [Sunday] night for overnight parking," wrote another miffed Nyacker. "This is cold and heartless in light of the state of emergency and power outages. New York City suspended meters and alternate parking, but Nyack just has to issue summonses despite the fact that streets are rarely swept and they are especially not swept between 3 to 6 am."
