The lives and sacrifices of Nyack policemen Sgt. Edward O'Grady and officer Waverly "Chipper" Brown and Brinks security guard Peter Paige were paid tribute Thursday with the 30th annual Brink Memorial.
The three men died Oct. 20, 1981 at the hands of domestic terrorist group the Black Liberation Army. After commandeering $1.6 million from a Brink's truck in Nanuet and murdering Paige, the outlaws were pulled over by O'Grady and Brown. A shootout ensued, and the two law enforcement officers were killed.
Three decades later, family members, friends and police from around the region continue to gather and pay their respects. Watch the above video for a closer look, and click here to learn about the scholarship fund set up in the victims' memory.
