Westchester County Airport Gets New Longterm Parking Lot

Overflow lot converted for new service.

A new longterm parking lot serving Westchester County Airport has opened on the airport property less than half a mile from the main passenger terminal, offering a shuttle-service to the terminal via a new specially-equipped Mercedes Benz van.

Free luggage loading and unloading services are included in the service of Westchester Airport Associates, which runs the parking at the airport. The lot, operated on-site by Park Plus Airport Parking, holds up to 300 cars and is priced at $15 a day for stays of three days or more.

“It’s the perfect option for travelers who will be away for a few days or more, whether they’re flying for business or pleasure,” said Joseph Apicella of Westchester Airport Associates and executive vice president of Cappelli Enterprises, the holders of a ground lease for the airport area parking facilities. “In just two minutes, you’ll be at the terminal without worrying about your car or having to carry your luggage.”

The lot's management, Park Plus Airport Parking, also runs airport parking and shuttle services at J.F.K. and Newark Liberty International airports as well as airport shuttle services facilities throughout the metropolitan area.

“Our company takes pride in our reputation for customer satisfaction and this new service at Westchester is an exciting new option for travelers,” said Larry Toto, a co-owner of Park Plus. “Making parking easy and convenient is a good way to take the stress out of catching a flight. We’re excited to bring this new approach to long-term parking at Westchester County Airport.”

Apicella said that until now travelers planning on going away for three or more days had to search out alternative ways to either get to the airport, or they were forced to park miles away and endure a long, uncomfortable bus ride to the terminal.

“This solves that problem and at a highly affordable price,” Apicella said.

The new longterm lot is a repurposing of the current overflow lot where people have been parking in the event that the main garage is full. The opening of the longterm lot is the first step in a major upgrade program that will be carried out at Westchester County Airport over the coming months.

Improvements to the airport’s parking infrastructure will include new signage, lighting, paving, planters, painting and upgrading the cell phone parking lot and repairs and upgrades to the main terminal parking garage.

“The long-term lot is an important first step toward transforming the parking infrastructure at the airport into one of the safest and most convenient parking systems in the country,” Apicella said.

The airport parking garage, located adjacent to the main terminal building, is open 24 hours a day. Parking rates are $3.45 per half hour, $6.90 per hour, with a maximum of $28.80 per calendar day. The garage does not have discounted parking for extended stays.

Plans for the new longterm parking area developed in response to parking problems at the airport. The longterm lot is also expected to soon be upgraded with new paving.

The new lot includes valet parking.

The airport is located just north of White Plains off I-684.
