Here are some ideas of how to spend your weekend

It's Thursday, and you have no idea what you'll do for the weekend.

Patch is coming to the rescue. We've got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and new bars/restaurants/shops to explore.

1. 

  • Where/When: Nyack Village Hall; Saturday at 9 a.m.
  • Why go: In honor of Earth Day, get out and make a difference—and have fun with crafts, entertainment and a parade.
  • Pricing: Free

  • Where/When: Rockland Lake; Saturday at 8 a.m.
  • Why go: Walk the beautiful scenic route around Rockland Lake to raise money for the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis. 
  • Pricing: Parking is $8

  • Where/When: Garnerville Arts and Industrial Center; Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.  
  • Why go: Check out a great art experience right around the corner. This festival features  artist's studios, demonstrations, live music, kids activities, films, food and more.
  • Pricing: $7 for adults, children under 14 free when accompanied by an adult 

4. Chiku Awali African Festival

  • Where/When: Nyack Center; Sunday starting at 1:30 p.m.  
  • Why go: For a change of pace, go see the dancing, hearing the drumming, and buy some great African crafts, clothing and merchandise. To get involved, sign up for a workshop in drumming or dance.
  • Pricing:  Workshops are $15 for one; $28 for two; $40 for three

5. Egyptian Belly Dancing

  • Where/When: Suffern Free Library; Sunday at 1:30 p.m. 
  • Why go: The whole family will enjoy a belly dancing show with bright colorful costumes and music! (Plus if you like it you can inquire about taking classes with the instructor.)
