This Weekend: Outdoor Shopping, Zumbathon

A few events taking place this weekend around the county

With the work week nearing its end, check out this list of just a few things you can do around the county this weekend:

  • When/Where - Friday 6:45 p.m. at the C2 Education Nanuet Center, located at 404 South Nanuet Mall Suite B, Nanuet
  • Why Go - Listen to the seminar to help students and parents better understand the financial aid process, as well as different types and sources of scholarships.
  • Pricing - Free
  • When/Where - Friday 8 p.m. at Fellowship of Reconciliation, located at 521 N. Broadway, Nyack.
  • Why Go - Go watch and listen to a concert by KuriCharik and Naaz Hosseini performing traditional and spontaneous healing sounds, including KuriCharik’s ancient ocarinas and jade flutes, as well as panpipes and percussion in harmony and dialogue with Hosseini’s voice and violin.
  • Pricing - Suggested $15 donation.
  • When/Where - Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Germonds Park, located at 185 Germonds Road, West Nyack.
  • Why Go - Enjoy some shopping from 30 vendors of all new merchandise, ranging from clothing to jewelry to home goods to food products. The event is being put on by the Clarkstown South Assets Leadership Team to raise money of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. There will also be food and live music.
  • Pricing - Free
  • When/Where - Saturday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Woodglen Elementary, located at 121 Phillips Hill Road, New City
  • Why Go - Get your car washed while helping to raise money for the graduating fifth-graders at Woodglen. Concessions will also be sold.
  • Pricing - $5 per car.
  • When/Where - Saturday 11 a.m. at Franklin Avenue Elementary, located at 48 Franklin Avenue, Pearl River.
  • Why Go - Help Anna Papageorgiou raise money for Tomorrow’s Children Fund, based at Hackensack University Medical Center, which helps children with cancer and blood disorders. There will also be raffles. Pre-registration is preferred. Email Papageorgiou at annazumbas@yahoo.com.
  • Pricing - $10 for students, $20 for non-students in advance. $25 for non-students at the door.
