This Weekend: Yard Sale, Family Festival

A few events taking place this weekend around the county

With the work week nearing its end, check out this list of just a few things you can do around the county this weekend.

  • When/Where - Friday 6-9 p.m. at Emmett’s Castle at Blue Hill, located at 285 Blue Hill Road, Pearl River.
  • Why Go - Enjoy starting off your weekend with a barbecue buffet. Seating available inside and outdoors, with family style and dinner menus also available.
  • Pricing - Call 845-735-3504 for details or reservations

  • When/Where - Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at S Broadway & Clinton Avenue, Nyack.
  • Why Go - Check out the yard sale to find a bunch of items, such as household goods, tools, furniture, toys, books and more. You can also donate items the day and place of the sale from 8-9 a.m.
  • Pricing - Free
  • When/Where - Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Rockland BOCES, located at 65 Parrott Road, West Nyack.
  • Why Go - Visit Rockland’s first ever Farm to Familyfest, called Vision for the Next Generation, to learn about local farms, farming techniques, green and healthy initiatives in schools, get free gardening advice and attend free seminars. There will also be workshops and screening of a film titled “When Learning Comes Naturally.”
  • Pricing - Free
  • When/Where - Saturday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Nanuet Outdoor Research Center, formerly known as the St. Agatha grounds, located at 135 Convent Road, Nanuet.
  • Why Go - Enjoy the fifth annual Family Fest, featuring inflatables, sports clinics, music, local vendors, a health walk and dunk tank.
  • Pricing - Free
  • When/Where - Sunday 2p.m. at 7 Trailside Court, New City.
  • Why Go - Enjoy an intimate performance by Travers Chandler & Avery County, a bluegrass band from Virginia that just last year was nominated as the emerging artist of the year by the International Bluegrass Music Association.
  • Pricing - $20 per person, of $15 per Borderline members. The concert is in a member’s house, so making reservations beforehand is encouraged.
