This Weekend: Streetfair, Earth Day

A few events taking place this weekend around the county

With the work week nearing its end, check out this list of just a few things you can do around the county this weekend:

  • When/Where - Friday 7 p.m. at the Nanuet Public Library, located at 149 Church Street, Nanuet
  • Why Go - Listen to Paul Reale of the Climate Reality Project speak on recent extreme weather and its connection to climate change, the gap between scientific understanding and public perception and more.
  • Pricing - Free
  • When/Where - Friday 8:30 p.m. at the Nyack Village Theater, located at 94 Main Street, Nyack.
  • Why Go - Celebrate the one-year anniversary and re-opening of Maura’s Kitchen with a Peruvian cultural event, featuring a night of food, drink and film. There will be a screening of a Peruvian documentary about Mistura, Peru’s Festival of Food.
  • Cost - $35.
  • When/Where - Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Stop & Shop Supermarket, located at 32 S. Middletown Road, Nanuet.
  • Why Go - Pick up supplies from Keep Rockland Beautiful in front of the supermarket and then head out into Nanuet for a day of cleaning.
  • Pricing - Free.
  • When/Where - Saturday 1 p.m. at the New City Library, located at 220 N. Main Street, New City
  • Why Go - Celebrate Earth Day with artist Yoko Komori Olson, who will lead a creative Earth Day workshop showing how people can use recycled materials to make items like special gift and tote bags.
  • Pricing - Free.
  • When/Where - Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. along Main Street and Broadway in Nyack.
  • Why Go - Kick off spring by attending the 26th annual Springfest, which features more than 150 vendors offering fine crafts, jewelry, art, photography, collectibles, antiques, quality handmade crafts, unique gifts and much more.
  • Pricing - Free.
