Rockland Boulders Name New Manager

Pittsfield's Jamie Keefe replaces ex-Yankee Dave LaPoint.

The Rockland Boulders of the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseaball today named Jamie Keefe to replace Dave LaPoint as manager.

Keefe earned the league’s Manager-of-the-Year award while with the Pittsfield Colonials in 2011, where he managed the team for its first two seasons.

A native of Rochester, New Hampshire, Keefe, 39, was a third round draft choice of the Pittsburgh Pirates and ascended as high as the AAA level during his nine-year pro playing career, primarily as an infielder. His managerial career includes stints in both the Frontier and CanAm Leagues, where he has amassed more than 400 career victories.

He led Pittsfield to playoff appearances in 2010 and 2011, and was named Manager-of-the-Year by the CanAm League after the 2011 season. He spent this past season as the GM/Field Manager of the Pittsfield Suns in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League.

I guess better late than never. LaCorte is serving his 4th year as Mayor and was Trustee for I thinkRead More 4 years before that. This year is the only time he has brought the idea to the village about participating in this program. He is motivated by the opportunity of getting positive press for his County Executive campaign. The village should have been involved in this program ( as well as the Americorps program) long before this. On a positive note, hopefully the Village will continue this worthwhile partnership for many years to come.
