O&R Distributing Dry Ice at Two Rockland Locations

Orange & Rockland, which will have dry ice distributions in Orangeburg and Pomona today, reports 25,500 Rockland County customers without power as of this morning.

Orange & Rockland Utilities will distribute dry ice at six locations today, two of them in Rockland County.

The first will be 10 a.m. to noon at Veterans Memorial Park in Orangeburg, with another from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Provident Bank Park in Pomona.

There will also be two distributions in Bergen County, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Upper Saddle River Municipal Building at 376 West Saddle River Road in Upper Saddle River, NJ and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Franklin Lakes Fire House at 1 Bender Court in Franklin Lakes, NJ.

The dry ice distributions are set up to help those customers still without power. According to O&R, 25,500 of the 61,800 still waiting for the return of their electricty are in Rockland County. The company is still projecting a return of power to 90 percent of its customers by Nov. 11.

O&R hired 2,500 contractors to work with its 1,000 employees on power restoration, the largest number of crews it has ever employed.

In addition to efforts to restore electricity, gas crews are working in Stony Point, Piermont and Nyack as areas affected by flooding are made safe.

O&R reminded its customers that they should assume all downed wires are still live, stay away from them and call 1-877-434-4100 to report the situation.
