Nyack Chamber of Commerce Seeks Help Creating New Logo

Artists invited to come up with designs; $300 prize for best design.

The Nyack Chamber of Commerce is inviting local artists to help design a new logo for the business group.

A $300 cash prize will be awarded for the design that best represents the chamber and its mission.

“The Chamber has been serving the Nyack Business Community for 55 years with the mission of bringing customers to local businesses, fostering a sense of community, vitalizing the business district, and advocating on behalf of Nyack businesses,” said Scott Baird, chamber president. “Our vision for Nyack is a thriving business district centered around an eclectic mix of exciting, funky and creative services, retail stores, shops, performance venues, bars and restaurants. We want a logo that will capture and convey that positive energy.”

Contestants should submit logo designs to the chamber by 5 pm, Friday, May 3 via email to info@nyackchamber.org. Design specifications and other contest details are posted on the Chamber’s website at http://nyackchamber.org/logo-contest/. The prize will be awarded on May 14 at the chamber’s After Hours event.

The chamber is looking for an emblem-type logo that will represent the chamber’s “pro-business, pro-member, pro-Nyack” mission and create a strong, memorable impression with local businesses, visitors and the broader community. The new logo will be used in all of the chamber’s communication and marketing programs ― including print media (letterhead, business cards, brochures), online media (web advertising, e-newsletters, the Chamber website), merchandise (mugs, t-shirts), signage (posters, banners) and television.

A subcommittee of the chamber’s Board of Directors will judge submissions anonymously and select the top three designs. These designs will be voted on by the full Board and the top design chosen. If no design is selected from the submissions received, the Chamber Board reserves the right to open up the design contest to a broader audience via an alternative venue.  In this event, the chamber will make an official announcement and will direct interested participants to the new venue to re-enter their designs.

The contest rules stipulate that each contestant will grant the chamber the right to use and display submitted material without compensation during the course of the contest. The winning design and all related materials, texts, graphics and files will become the sole property of the c hamber immediately upon determination and announcement of the winner.

Interested designers can go to the contest page on the chamber’s website at http://nyackchamber.org/logo-contest/.
