Dick's Sporting Goods Holds Grand Opening

West Nyack store will be the chain's 500th.

Dick's Sporting Goods will officially open its doors to the public in West Nyack this weekend with a three-day ceremony.

The sprawling athletics and hunting store, located in the Palisades Center, will host Clarkstown supervisor Alex Gromack on Friday morning, and Yankee slugger Bernie Williams on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. There will also be giveaways throughout the weekend.

The business opened Wednesday, Sept. 19, but began the fete with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 8 a.m Friday.

Special extended store hours will be in effect Friday (8 a.m. to 10 p.m.), Saturday (8 a.m. to 10 p.m.) and Sunday (9 a.m. to 8 p.m.)

"We look forward to opening our new Dick's Sporting Goods store in West Nyack and becoming part of the community," said Lauren Hobart, Dick’s Sporting Goods Chief Marketing Officer. "We want to serve athletes of all ages in West Nyack by providing the equipment they need to help them excel."

The West Nyack location marks the 500th store opening for the chain, which began in 1948.

I guess better late than never. LaCorte is serving his 4th year as Mayor and was Trustee for I thinkRead More 4 years before that. This year is the only time he has brought the idea to the village about participating in this program. He is motivated by the opportunity of getting positive press for his County Executive campaign. The village should have been involved in this program ( as well as the Americorps program) long before this. On a positive note, hopefully the Village will continue this worthwhile partnership for many years to come.
